So on the weekend I decided to do a few things, one of which was as close to nothing as possible. I achieved that. Though I have drawn a heap of pages in my new sketchbook I haven’t actually done alot else that is worth showing. I think I am a little tired if incomplete projects. As it is I am more tired and doing alot less of much.
I have scraped some things such as the ezine due to the fact I have time for course work and everything else is just a bonus. Its a little disheartening but it is more important for me to focus this way and actually take the time out to sit on the couch and do stuff all. Generally I am constantly doing things, working on something or a dozen things but it just isn’t a great idea for me at the moment. So that might be why there is only a few posts here and there currently.
So at the moment this is all that I have to show you.. these are 2x5inch mdf scraps that I had cut off from my course project to get it to an A1 size, there are 2 more floating around somewhere and these are just small tests into how glazes go on mdf and if I can /want to keep the mdf coloring instead of painting the whole thing with gesso /base.
Just so you know I use Jo Sonjas Acrylic Paints and mediums, firstly I layered the mdf with All Purpose Sealer, and then when that was dry ( I left it over night) I painted them with Titanium White mixed to a 30% ish glaze using Clear Glaze Medium and then painted on the the mdf randomly until the paint was all used, then I mixxed an Aqua, Titanium White and 25%ish glaze, and then layered a few to get the lighter coloring. The more layers of the glazes built up on the mdf base gave me the fuller color of each shade.
In the top is a eye screw because I wanted to test out how this goes, however the mdf is 3mm and it warps one side, I think I will simply drill a hole in the future and then glue or putty it into place before painting. These are still waiting for one last coat back and front of Decoupage medium.
And this is how my kitty spent the rainy day after I let him out so that he could discover what winter feels like for an outdoor cat.. 😛
