The work I have been doing on this piece seems to have flown by now that I am at the end of the piece, however when I was at certain points I thought I would never finnish it.. But I think documenting it and looking back over the production of Mother Winter.. I did good! I have so many ideas for characters that I have had going around in my head.. The question is which one to make next.. Tonight sitting there knitting her hat (had to be extended and added to from the mock up pic) I realised that I tend to learn techniques, sitting there adding in increases where I needed them, two years ago I had the worst trouble knitting the simplest of scarfs, and tonight 5 needles in hand finnishing off this hat which I to take back to the point where the lighter color was and pick up the stitches again.. Which lead me to think about the way I learn, I learn techniques not projects or items in books to make.
Having gone to the library again I picked up a book on masks from around the world, which is research for some other ideas.. the rest are all on technique, one is polymer clay techniques, which I am still new to and the other is an encyclopedia on sculpture techniques.. I am waiting on a bunch from amazon which I ordered just before xmas. I am going to start a list of what books I own and what ones I borrow soon.. Finally a use for listography!
Back to the main topic.. All I have left now is to finnish up her wings and then her lantern and boots.. And then hopefully she will swiftly find a new home..
The mystic is a smaller less time consuming piece.. alot of fun to make..
