There are times when I get very discouraged. Lately I have been discouraged. As I had mentioned the posters were apparently done and posted off and haven’t arrived. While I get that its a friend printing them and I am very greatful for his help and kindness. People are waiting. People actually are interested in buying and its like having someone hold candy 10 cm infront of a child constantly. So its something silly to be sad over. Am I ment to go find someone else to print these up. It will cost more and the person will quite possibly not be as supportive and instructive in thier various papers and options.
Aside from that I am very thankful my sculpture and essays are over. Whilst I like sculpture, the actual course was a tad confusing especially when it came to using video as sculpture. I suppose I have these prebuilt ideals of what it is and what it is for something to be a sculpture. Now I wonder if everything is a sculpture and consider that if you take the person away from the computers etc that even that in the right context is a sculpture. So there you go.
I am onto painting and drawing, which is great because I missed it so much. There is only so much drawing and painting that gets done when you spend most of your time reseaarching and writing. These 5 pieces are from yesterday, They are done on supports that vary from acrylic paper, primed acrylic paper, primed cartridge, primed matt board, plasticy paper (I forget what this is actually called) and so on. The excercise being to explore the materiality of paint. So as you can guess there will be dripping, spattering and various explorations into getting this onto the paper. I want to work towards scanning every page of my visual diary to go along with each project and better blog these. Heres to keeping up to that..
The bottom one here isn’t complete yet and was still drying. Due to the build up from putting it onto the page with a palete knife the thicker areas need more drying time before adding another layer of white or grey to this.
