So, I decided to get a little funky with my last map, I have found whilst I am learning a great deal about my approaches to art, research into things and actually getting into methods of workign, that while my works are turning out well they aren’t totally me.. Some aspects perhaps but not what I am passionate about as much as getting the work done. So for my last map I decided to do something more personally interesting and that I want to keep around all the time… It currently sits on my desk and there are more of these to come, some of which will make thier way to ebay, I have about 4 to do for people one being my nephew who wants a black one… Apparently its his favorite colors, and a friend who wants one with an island and starfish..
Flick has alot of wip pictures and I will be posting a tutorial for it in a week or two (give or take).. But heres the first of hopefully many!
This is what I was working on this morning for my course project, however my batteries are seemingly not charging fully anymore, considering I have 3 sets and have at least one generally charge.. I would say they are stuffed.. Anyway, the project is to make a still life using collage and then drawing back into it.. I will be sure to post more of it in a day or so.. 🙂 There are 2 of it..
And then there is the turtle, this ones a little off from the modeling clay version but thats due to not really knowing how to base it, though it has actually turned out pretty well and is currently drying and will be painted and then have pieces added such as his shell flag and weapon. in the past I have generally drawn him with a shell that contains a tank which he will have attached, the shell is made from found items as he lost his to a car early on and has been living around the unit for a while now… the tank will be lit up and hopefully I can at some point later on show you the led lit shell! I personally cant wait to finnish him as its something I have been keen on getting done!
He is made with a new clay I picked up, it is air dry but not the Das stuff which I personally can’t stand.. this clay you can add water to and leave wet by coating, it was a little strange to work with so small but I think that was partly because I wanted to finnish up my course work but didn’t want to leave him wet. His base is made from corks which are in the legs, 1/2 a toilet roll and part of an egg carton, as well as the plastic part from cotton buds (unused) and some bamboo skewers, the base is MDF with calio cheese cloth and some gauze with gesso 😀
Till next time!
